Dr. Tommy Curry

Personal Chair in Africana Philosophy & Black Male Studies
University of Edinburgh

His research interests are 19th century ethnology, Critical Race Theory & Black Male Studies. He is the author of The Man-Not: Race, Class, Genre, and the Dilemmas of Black Manhood (Temple University Press 2017), which won the 2018 American Book Award, and Another white Man’s Burden: Josiah Royce’s Quest for a Philosophy of Racial Empire (SUNY Press 2018), which recently won the Josiah Royce Prize for American Idealist Thought.

Dr. Clenora Hudson-Weems

As the first African America woman to formulate a position on Africana Womanism Clenora Hudson-Weems is author of the 1993 groundbreaking study, Africana Womanism: Reclaiming Ourselves. According to Mamie Till Mobley, mother of Emmett Till–“Hudson-Weems has dug relentlessly into Southern justice, revealing the stench and ugliness of race hatred, American style. She has captured the essence of Emmett, a “Sacrificial Lamb” whose death has provided an escape to life for millions who were trapped in a web of hate.”

Lynda Gibson PhD

Child Psycholgist Senior Research Associate

Dr. Gibson research and clinical work focuses on risk andresiliency factors in African American communities, barriers to treatment for minority families, early exposure to trauma and community violence, and strategies for building

trauma-informed schools. Dr. Gibson is a member of the Diversity Committee for the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology; as well as a member of the Race and Trauma Committee for the Illinois Childhood Trauma Coalition.

Hakeem Oluseyi is an American astrophysicist, cosmologist, inventor, educator, television personality, and public speaker. He was a Distinguished Professor of Aerospace, Physics, and Space Sciences at the Florida Institute of Technology from 2007 to 2019 and has held professorships at MIT, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Washington, and the University of Cape Town.
